Stop-limit orders can be an effective tool, but they don't always work as expected and traders must use them with caution. This is especially true in volatile markets.
Sometimes the price is falling so rapidly that, when the price hits the stop and your stop-limit order is converted to a limit order, there is no time and available orders to fill your order. The price has already plunged through that level, so your order was not executed.
